LETTER TO PARTICIPANTS TO KARMOY MEETING

Dear partners,

in preparation of our next meeting near the North Pole, we attach the draft report of the Italian case studies.

As we pointed out in the presentation, our work was particularly intensive since the activities sponsored by the SEEDS project were combined with the activities of the other SOCRATES project (action 6) in which the STRESA network is involved. Therefore there was the possibility to make a broader data collection.

During the first part of our meeting, as reported in the agenda, we would like to reach a clear idea of the state of the art of the work undertaken by each partner to then proceed, in the second part, to frame the future developments.

We expect each partner to have done different activities, interpreting in their own way the framework designed together in the first meeting at Montegrotto and in the sub-group meeting in London. In order to make our presentations and discussion more effective and fruitful, we would suggest a few questions to which we should all be prepared to answer these questions:

  • How have the schools been selected?
  • What kinds of activities have been done in each school?
  • Which instruments have been used? (qualitative/quantitative questionnaires, focus groups, observations, document analysis)
  • Which actors have been interviewed / observed?
  • Which topics have been touched?
  • What are the most interesting / exciting / disappointing ideas emerged so far about responsible citizenship?
  • Have specific projects on citizenship been identified?
  • How can we foresee the "format" of our final case studies?
  • We would also like to ask our Norwegian hosts to chair the meeting and do hope that John, Andreas or Peter will be happy to be "volunteers" for this.
