The Istituto Comprensivo "Mons. Valoti" of Chiuduno - Italy - Co-ordinating institution

Virginia Ginesi - graduated as Primary School Teacher in 1980, she took the degree in Philosophy. She worked as a teacher from 1980 to 1991. Since 1991 she is a head teacher and since 2000 has been the head of the Istituto Comprensivo di Chiuduno (BG).
She participated in some residential courses organised by the School Office of Bergamo on pedagogical, cultural and managerial topics; in 1995 she participated in a 2 week training course on multicultural education at the Institute of Education - University of London.
She is a member of the research staff in the STRESA network.

Giovanna Barzanò is a school inspector working for the Italian Ministry of Education. She is involved in different international projects run by EU and OECD in the field of comparative education, teaching-learning foreign languages, educational leadership and teachers professional development. She has a broad experience as co-ordinator of international co-operation projects. She is the director of the vast ESF project involving different institutions.

Emanuela Brumana has been a teacher for many years. Now she works as psycopedagogical operator in a Comprehensive Institute of Bergamo and is involved in planning and monitoring activities for foreign pupils and students enrolled in Italian schools. She is students' training supervisor at the University of Bergamo.

Mariacristina Zarrella – graduated from Scientific High School in 1996 and Primary School Teaching in 1997. She graduated in Human Science from Cattolica University in 2001. From 2001 to 2006 she has worked in primary school as an English and Computer Science expert. In 2005 she specialized in Italian and Latin language and literature teaching as well as in History and Geography teaching at University of Pavia. She is currently completing a Master in Business Administration and achieved the ECDL (European Computer Driving License). In 2006 she started working as an Italian language, History and Geography teacher at the lower secondary school of Chiuduno (BG), Italy.

 

Associazione RETE STRESA (STRumenti per l'Efficacia della Scuola e l'Autovalutazione) Osio Sotto - Italy

Gianfrancesco Musumeci M.A., has quite a long history as a teacher in Primary and Secondary School and has been a head teacher for 23 years. Lecturer of Legislation in courses for special need teachers. He has been the coordinator of 2 Comenius 2.1 projects. He organised an international Comenius Seminar on school leadership. He is responsible for the organizational aspects of the school network and for the European projects of the Associazione RETESTRESA.

Rosangela Baggio Teacher trainer and Comenius promoter. She has participated actively in the development and management of Lingua and Comenius project both as a researcher and as one of the persons in charge of project management. She is in charge of the organisation of past and present Comenius 2.2 courses and their evaluation. She is involved in a major project focusing on the development of the competences on the field of the European dimension for Italian teachers. She has widely published on topics related to education and teacher education and the European dimension related to those fields. She is now a teacher in the Italian Istituto Comprensivo of Madrid.

 

Pedagogisk Psykologisk Senter Karmøy

John Rullestad has been used by the National Agency (SIU) in Norway and by Directors of Education in different authorities within Norway to promote the Socrates program. He also participated at the round table conference (the final evaluation) at the third Web for Schools-conference in Brussels and also had a presentation at the coordinators' meeting Comenius 2-projects in Brussels in February 2005.

Per Fagerland a local authority Educational Adviser with experience in the use of ODL and trans-national projects. He is a previous coordinator of the two Socrates Minerva project ‘SLAM’ 1999 – 2002 and ‘GrandSLAM’ 2002 – 2005 and ran one of the workshops at the launching of the eTwinning project in Brussels in January 2005. In addition he has participated as partner in several Socrates Comenius and Grundvig projects. At present he coordinates the Socrates Comenius 2.1 Project ‘SLAMIT – School Libraries As Multimedia and Learning Centre In-Service Training’ ( www.slamit.org ). Per Fagerland has also been used by the National Agency (SIU) in Norway to promote the Socrates program and as an evaluator of Comenius 1 applications.

Andreas Holvik Teacher education full filled in 1970.. Since then been a teacher and a head teacher. He has been working as an adviser since 1997.
Duty assignment: Evaluation , project coordinator for external evaluation in Karmøy, coordinator for the international project SITE (School and kindergarten Improvement Through Evaluation) Running courses about Student portfolio and Learning Styles. He is also involved in some school development project both in Karmøy and in other municipalities in Norway.

Linda Velle Sjøen is working for the Educational Advisory Centre in Karmoy. She is an Educational Advicer and organizer of courses and network for teachers in primary and lower secondary schools. She is involved in different school development projects and she is a tutor in teachers teams and peer learning groups for teachers. She is also involved as an external evaluator in primary schools in Karmøy.

 

King's College University of London (London-UK)

Dr Jane Jones is Head of Language Teacher Education in the Department of Education and Professional Studies at King's College. She is responsible for Postgraduate Initial Teacher Training, and Masters' and Doctoral level programmes in associated areas. She also teaches on the Education Management course on the MA and on the Methods of Inquiry course at EdD level. Dr Jones is the Socrates representative for the Department.
Previously she taught foreign languages for many years in secondary and later in primary schools and held several whole school positions of responsibility and leadership. These included language learning, assessment and the wellbeing of pupils. She is head of the school board of governors of two schools and had been a school governor for 25 years.
She has vast experience in evaluation and had been external evaluator for several Comenius projects as well as evaluator of network projects for Brussels.
She is currently working for the government on formative assessment practices and is a member of several national committees with responsibility for aspects of teacher training and the development of school initiatives and school leadership.
She has been a partner in many EU projects since 1993 and is designated the comparative education expert for the college and spokesperson for the media.

Michaela Thomas studied German, English and Philosophy at the University of Hamburg and then, after working as German Language Assistant in a London School for a year, undertook a teacher training course at King's College London. She subsequently taught German and French in both state and independent schools and was, at one time, Head of German. Following an interest in IT and ICT, she trained and qualified as networkengineer. She then worked in a range of IT contexts including training network engineers,telecommunication and project management.
She is currently a technical engineer in an international video-conferencing company and also works as a researcher and translator on educational projects at King's College London.

 

Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d' Ensenyament (Barcelona- SPAIN)

Cristina Pujol Matas is a technical advisors in Education in the Teaching Department. She has got a degree in Psycopedagogy. She has been a teacher and head teacher for 18 years. She also teaches didactic of the language and school organisation at the International University of Catalonia. She has been involved in several Socrates project both as coordinator and partner.

Josep Gomez Andres is a headteacher who co-operates with theTeaching Department. of Generalitat of Catalonia. He has been a teacher and is now a headteacher. He has been involved in several Socrates projects both as co-ordinator and as partner.

Anna Babra Pérez has been a language teacher for many years in primary and secondary schools. She has been pedagogical co-ordinator for seven years and been a member of the key competencies network promoted by the Department of Educations of the Generalitat of Catalonia. . She works currently as a technical advisor in the Department of Education as a co-ordinator of a group of primary and secondary school working on key competencies. She has been involved in several Comenius Projects and has co-ordinated one of them.

Xavier Buson Torroja graduated in Classical Studies from the Barcelona University in 1986 and English and German Philology from the same University in 1992. He has been teaching for many years now Latin, Greek, English and German in high school. He is currently pedagogical co-ordinator in a high school and partly collaborates as a technical advisor in the Department of Education of the Generalitat of Catalonia as a co-ordinator of a group of primary and secondary school working on key competencies. He has also been involved in several Comenius Projects.

Maria Ojuel graduated in Archaeology and History of Art from the Barcelona University. She has been teaching Geography and History in a secondary school, where she has also been involved in pedagogical co-ordination. She works currently as a technical advisor in the Department of Education, co-ordinating the new national curriculum related to social sciences and citizenship education.

 

Gymnasium Dr Alese Hrdlicky in Humpolec, Czech Republic

Vlastimil Fiala, Head teacher and a teacher of Mathematics and Technology. Mr. Fiala has attended courses in the introduction of new technologies and multimedia under the Arion programme and has introduced and developed the local school network. He is a member of the Humpolec town council, and a member of the Finance Committee. Vlastimil Fiala will be working with other colleagues at the Gymnazium and amongst other Head Teachers through representative bodies, both regional (Jihlava) and national to develop the project aims within the school and the wider education community.

Stanya Hralova, a teacher within the English department of the school. Stanya Hralova is currently completing a PhD in English at Charles University in Prague. She has attended a wide range of European courses including Teaching Methodology (Barnstaple, Devon, UK) and Advanced English and Language Teaching Methodology (held at the School of Linguistics, University College, Bangor, Wales under the Socrates programme). She played a very active role within the Minerva projects SLAM and Grand Slam and was able to enable developments within the school and community, translating and implementing best European practice into a Czech model.
